Learning through Play

In Reception we follow the interests of the children and plan rich opportunities for the children to learn through play. We have worked hard to create an exciting and stimulating environment to support the children throughout their learning. There are a number of different areas inside and within our outdoor environment for the children to explore. Please use the tabs above to explore these areas.

Reading and Storytelling

Our reading, small world and role play areas are well resources to allow the children to explore and build on their imaginary play, creating stories and narratives of their own. They learn to play cooperatively with their peers as they communicate and share.

Mark Making/ Writing and Phonics

Writing and phonics resources are always accessable in the learning environment as children begin to develop their mark making skills forming letters correctly, writing their name, words and even sentences.

Mathematical Concepts

The learning provision is set up to encourage the children to practice and apply mathematical concepts and skills they have learnt such as number work, shapes, patterns, prepostions and measuring.

Creative Exploration

The children are beginning to explore colour mixing, textures, materials, modelling, music and dance. We change these challenges weekly to allow the children to practise different skills.

Physical Development

As part of the early years curriculum the children learn to move in different ways, balance, and join in with ball games. Aswell as our weekly PE sessions the children have the opportunity to practise these taught skills in our outdoor classroom.

Wellbeing

We will support your child as they grow up to be happy, resilient members of the community. Providing them with opportunities to develop resiliece, pride and self awareness and helping them to resolve squabbles with friends.

We aim to keep them smiling.

Investigative FUN!
Children begin to learn about the world around them as they observe, experiment, explore new concepts such as growth, plants, animals and much more.

Our outdoor classroom is set up each morning ready for the big day ahead. We would appeciate it if you would encourage your children to not play with our resources and equipment before and after school.

THANK YOU
