Spring Term
This term in English, we will be reading Jemmy Button by Jennifer Ulman and Valerio Vidal.
We will be writing our own return narrative and letter based on this book.

What makes the earth angry?
As part of our lessons we will be asking:
What causes a volcano to erupt and where are the famous volcanoes in the world?
How do volcanoes impact on the lives of people and why do people choose to live near them?
How can you recreate an erupting volcano?
What causes an earthquake (and a tsunami) and how are they measured?
Why do we experience floods so often in the UK?
How can we capture a stormy weather pattern using music, drama and dance?

This term we get to explore plants.
The children will:
- identify and describe the functions of different parts of flowering plants: roots, stem/trunk, leaves and flowers
- explore the requirements of plants for life and growth (air, light, water, nutrients from soil, and room to grow) and how they vary from plant to plant
- investigate the way in which water is transported within plants
- explore the part that flowers play in the life cycle of flowering plants, including pollination, seed formation and seed dispersal
