Parent Voice is extremely important to the staff at Beechwood.

We value you sharing your ideas and suggestions with us.

Here are some of the points that have been mentioned in the most recent parent questionnaire (August 2026) and the actions that we have taken or are planning to take.

ISSUE/CONCERN	SOLUTION
More extra-curricular activities, after-school clubs and a homework club.	This year we have revamped the clubs on offer. There is a wider variety and they will last for a whole term. We have removed homework club as we have made changes to the homework expectation this year.
Better access to club spaces and bookings for working families.	Club spaces are limited by pupil:staff ratio and booking via Gateway can only be made live during the office staff’s working hours. We will give advance notice so that working parents are aware when clubs will be going ‘live’ on the system but cannot do this before or after working hours.
There needs to be more posts and pictures on Class Dojo so that all classes are equally represented.	The minimum expectation for all classes is one post and one photograph per day. If you are finding that this is not happening in your child's class, please let me know.
Provide more homework	This year we have bought into Doodle homework for all year groups. There will be maths and English work set each week and pupils can access additional learning via the online platform.
More communication about progress.	We report to parents twice a year via a written report and there is access to three separate parents’ evening across the year. Parent/carers need to be aware that asking teachers to do more than this would have a significant impact on staff workload. However, staff are happy to have informal chats about progress either face-to-face or via Class Dojo.
Open Breakfast Club earlier and have Tree House open later.	Breakfast Club opens at 7.45am and Tree House closes at 5.00pm. Staff run these outside of their normal working hours so it would be unfair to ask them to work longer. We run wrap around care at a significantly lower cost than most local schools by using our own staff and sticking to these timings.
Let parents know about when first aid has been done.	All first aid is logged on a programme called Medical Tracker. We currently only inform parents of head injuries or significant events, however, we will investigate if we can use the system to let parents know of all first aid incidents.
Teach more about British culture and celebrate British days.	This year we have mapped out different ‘Culture Months’. We will celebrate British culture alongside other the cultures of pupils within the school and try to have more celebrations.
Provide lessons on managing money.	We have now introduced the Beechwood Bank to teach pupils about saving, spending and interest. There will also be financial learning threaded through the PSHE curriculum this academic year.
Have more focus on writing skills.	This is a target on out school development plan for this academic year so will be a focus across the school in al curriculum areas. It was also the only development point brought up by OFSTED at our last inspection so we have this on our agenda.
Improve the outdoor play areas	There is substantial investment going into this. The play area is currently being revamped and there are now several different zones at lunch time to engage more pupils. Some new zones that we have introduced include: Scoot and Skate, Creative and Loose Parts.
Teachers should talk to parents away from other parents not on playground	Staff have been reminded about the importance of privacy if they need to speak with a parent. If it is the end of the day and you need to speak privately to a staff member, you may have to wait until the other pupils have been dismissed or make an appointment at a different time.
