Summer Term
This term we are going to be exploring the book: Rapunzel by Bethan Woolvin.
We will begin by exploring the character Rapunzel before we move to writing our own narratives about Dexter and the Troll.
As we move to the Summer Term, it becomes more important that children are writing sentences which make sense and are correctly punctuated with capital letters and full stops.
Children will continue to develop their handwriting skills, paying attention to ascenders and descenders, as well as sitting letters on the line.
In maths, children will be completing the following areas:
- Multiplication and Division
- Fractions
- Position and Direction
- Time
- Money
- Place Value to 100.
Children will begin to learn to rote count in 2s, 5s and 10s. It would be great if children would work on this at home also.
Our History topic is The Great Fire of London. Children will begin by looking at what London is like today and drawing comparisons to London in the past. We will be looking at what happened in 1666 - why the fire started, who helped and what happened in London after the fire.
Children are very excited to put on a performance about The Great Fire of London. We can't wait to sing and entertain you at the end of the first half term. More information will be shared on Dojo.
We will then be finding out about The Fire in Nantwich and we will be visiting Nantwich Museum.
Our Science topic is about Plants and we will start this after half term.
Children will be learning to name different flowers and trees. They will be looking at the different parts of plants and using the correct terminology to describe them.
